'Hartenstein'.
On 19 September HRH Prince Willem-Alexander and his fiancé Máxima Zorreguieta paid a visit to Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’, accompanied by two coaches filled with members of the Press and other media.
The Chairman of the Board, drs. J.W.A.M. Verlinden OBE, welcomed the Royal couple. Mr. W. Boersma member of the Board of Trustees, gave a short explanation of the Battle of Arnhem.
The Chairman and the Vice-Chairman, drs. A. Groeneweg OBE, then conducted the Royal couple along the Dioramas in the basement of the Museum.
The last engagement was in the main room where Prince Willem-Alexander and Mrs. Zorreguieta had a conversation with three
veterans; Lieutenant Ted Shaw MC R.A., Private John Ranger and Captain Gasowski.
Also present was Mrs. Sophie Lambrechtsen-ter Horst, daughter of Mrs. Kate ter Horst,
as well as four children; Sophie Paasse, Maaike Lourens, Ruud Leibbrand and Scott Homburg. They are pupils of the local schools who lay flowers at the graves in the Cemetery during the
annual Commemoration Service.
Lt-Colonel G. Pijpers, representative of the Airborne Forces Security Fund and also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Museum, had prepared a perfect scenario for this memorable occasion.
